RTE Installation on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98 & Windows 95
To gain access to the Vivid Online License Tracker website you need an eToken. The eToken Runtime Environment (RTE) contains all the necessary files and components that you need for eToken to work with your computer (Drivers).
The eToken RTE installation uses the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI), which is freely available as a redistributable file for Windows 95/98 and NT 4.0.
What is MSI?
The Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) is a new installation service, enabling efficient installation and configuration of applications. For example, if an installation is unsuccessful, the installer restores the original state of the computer.
MSI is built into Windows 2000 and Windows Millennium, and is freely available as a redistributable file for Windows 95/98 and NT 4.0.
Why do you need it?
The eToken RTE can be installed only on computers on which MSI version 1.1 or above is already installed.
How to install RTE:
- Download the MSI.exe file and save it on your local disk:
- Download the RTE v3.65 file:
- RTE v3.65 (4.15 Mb)
You can copy the RTE v3.65 file and install it on other computers for use with eToken, subject to operating system requirements.
- Install MSI, either:
- Double-click the downloaded MSI.exe file
or
- In the Windows Start menu, select RUN. Browse to the downloaded MSI.exe file and click OK.
- When prompted, restart the computer.
- After restarting, continue install the eToken RTE, either:
- Double-click the downloaded rte_365.msi file
or
- In the Windows Start menu, select RUN. Browse to the downloaded rte_365.msi file and click OK.
Note: It is strongly recommended that when installing the new RTE 3.65, you only upgrade (INSTALL ON TOP OF) the current RTE installation and do NOT uninstall it before the new installation.
